♪♫ I don't blame you, it's what I love you for...

I'm super tired today so it's just a quick post. I sorted out my hair - decided to dye it Auburn and it's turned out really nice. Still patchy in places but that can be passed off as highlights!

Flashy Franken

I was having a dilemma on Friday night. I couldn't pick out a single colour from my 150+ collection which I felt like wearing on my nails. At Marina's amazing suggestion on twitter, I decided to franken myself a new one.
I had seen this mani by Erika a while ago and knew as soon as I saw it that I wanted something similar, so I decided to aim for a light pink with gold shimmer much like China Glaze Pink-Rox-E and I think what I ended up with is a pretty good match, if I do say so myself.
I mixed this shade from BYS Tickle Me Pink, an ancient, very sheer gold from Collection 2000 and a tiny smidge of BYS Metallic Fuschia.

Then to spice it up a little, I freehanded some gold tips with a little black line to emphasise them. I've done this a few times recently with different colour combinations, but they normally turn out really messy though so I haven't been photographing them. I freehanded the tips with Sally Hansen Amber Chrome and used Rimmel Black Satin for the lines applied with one of these little brushes from Born Pretty Store which made all the difference when it came to keeping the lines neat.

Feathers with a Franken

This is the 4th franken I have made. I have 6 in total which means I still have 2 to show you! It's very similar to Barry M Berry Ice Cream but has a shimmer to it which you can't even see in this terribly lit photo. Sorry about that guys.

My 3rd Franken

I made a new Franken! My previous attempts have both been pink so I decided on blue this time. I found a bottle which had practically nothing left so instead of throwing it away I decided to mix things up a bit!
I used at least 10 different polishesw to mix this colour and it's a nice creamy, grey-blue with a little bit of shimmer.
I'm terrible of thinking up names for colours so so far I have just numbered my Frankens but I'm wide open for suggestions :D

Franken No.2

Okay, it's gonna be a long post today.

Firstly, I have to thank Susies1955, Audrey and anyone else who's shared this blog. I loved logging on this morning to find 5 followers up from 1! And the number is rising every hour. If anyone else wants to spread some love and share my blog, I would loove it.

Secondly, my second Franken. I am falling in love with making frankens. My collection of polish is so large now (75 at the last count) that it's good to use some of the older ones making new ones. My own little recycling plant :D

Frankenpolish
It is a shimmery light pink made from four existing polishes - white, shimmery pink, shimmery red and hot pink which you can see in the picture below.

And here is the polish on...

The Silverfish
Finally, the bug I found in my room! It's no secret among us students that the university halls where I live have a Silverfish infestation but I have been lucky enough not to seea single one in my room between September and now. But last Wednesday (28th) I spotted one on my noticeboard!!
If you've never seen a silverfish, they look just like earwigs. I'm not a bug fan but I'm not terrified of them so I can get close but never touch them directly. Blurgh. And this was the fastest bug I've ever seen in my life. I tried to get it on a piece of paper and out the window but it practically flew away. It really creeped me out.

My First Franken

No Konadicure today because I made my very first Frankenpolish. I wanted to make a rosy pink as all of my pinks are either very dark or very pale, so I set out to make something in the middle.

Below you can see the polishes I used. The Franken is mainly made up of the colour you can see 3rd from the right, with varying quantities of the rest. It was very 'I'll try a bit of this and see what happens' but a very fun experience. I recommend it!! I know I will definitely be doing it again :D But next time I will get some ball bearings for assisting with the mixing as the crook of my elbow is really achin' from the shakin'!
